Celtics
Miami Heat fans sent a clear message from the Kaseya Center last week during the NBA play-in tournament.
As the Heat put the final stamp on a resounding victory over the Chicago Bulls, their fans set their sights on a first-round matchup with the Celtics – to cheers of “We Want Boston!” » leaving the Miami arena.
Even without Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier, it’s no surprise that the Heat want to host a playoff rematch against Boston – especially after eighth-seeded Miami held on to beat the Celtics in seven games in the 2023 Eastern Conference final.
But in a video posted Saturday to his official YouTube channel, Celtics reserve forward Oshae Brissett warned Heat fans to be careful what they wish for.
“I hear crazy chants in there, talking about, ‘We want the Celtics,’” Brissett said via his YouTube channel. “I have never been one to speak prematurely. Because bad takes are one thing. And a lot of analysts and people at ESPN, NBA players who have podcasts, are the kings of bad takes. Oshae Brissett is not one of them.
“So all I’m going to say is, see you Sunday at 1 p.m. Keep chanting, “We want the Celtics.” We will continue this conversation after the first round.
Although Brissett did not play in Sunday’s opener, the top-seeded Celtics took care of business on the floor by defeating the Heat, 114-94.
The Celtics have long been Eastern Conference favorites this postseason, with the Heat’s hopes of pulling off an upset further hampered by questions surrounding the health of Butler and Rozier.
Bam Adebayo was the only Miami player to surpass 20 points in Game 1, while Caleb Martin – who torched the Celtics from beyond the arc last playoff run – scored just four points and missed all four of his 3-point attempts.
