Original Frank West Voice Actor Says Capcom Didn’t Ask Him to Return for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster brings back the classic zombie game without its original voice actor, who has said publisher Capcom did not ask him to return.

As ComicBook reports, original Frank West voice actor Terence J. Rotolo responded to a fan in an Instagram post, shared by @FrankByDaylight on X/Twitter, saying that he had not been contacted by Capcom for the remaster and that “the reasons are those of the producers.”

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster was announced on June 27, 2024 as, unsurprisingly, a remaster of the original Dead Rising. Capcom also released a trailer alongside the announcement, but fans were quick to notice a new voice behind classic protagonist Frank West.

“I don’t have an answer to your question,” Rotolo said. “All I can say is that I’ve always been grateful for the opportunity to bring Frank to life. An actor’s job when they’re asked to come in is to prepare, do their best work, and when they’re done, move on to the next assignment. I just wasn’t called for that assignment. The reasons are up to the producers.”

IGN has reached out to Capcom for comment.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 18, 2024 with 4K graphics and 60 frames per second support, running on the RE Engine. Capcom has also made improvements to the quality of the live game, “polished” the interface, added an auto-save feature, and much more.

In our 8/10 review of the original Dead Rising, IGN said: “While Dead Rising may seem like a simple, uninspiring game when you first pick it up, it ultimately reveals itself to be a deeper experience.”
