Two American Democratic representatives of Oregon left the joint address of President Donald Trump at the Congress in protest on Tuesday evening.
Representative Andrea Salinas, who represents the 6th district of Oregon Congress, and the representative Maxine Dexter, representing the 3rd district of the State Congress, both posted on the X social media platform that they had left the Chamber of the Chamber while Trump was still addressed to the members of the Congress and the Nation.
“Tonight, President Trump sparked more lies and continued to ignore the reality that his policies harm workers’ families – not helping them. To protest, I decided to leave the house of the house early, rather than listening to more false promises of a budding dictator, “said Salinas.
In two graphs accompanying her post, she said that Trump had “eliminated the Constitution and crowned king”.
Dexter, which represents large parts of the County of Multnomah, said that she had left the house of the house as an act of resistance.
“I refuse to normalize Trump’s constitutional crisis. I’m going to retaliate hard. I will disrupt tirelessly. I will resist shamelessly, ”she posted. “Tonight, I left the state of the union because I will not dignify his cruelty – and I want him to know.”
Several Democrats have boycotted the speech, including the American Senator of Oregon, Ron Wyden, who rather held a virtual town hall.
The American Democratic Representative Al Green, Texas, was escorted outside the House after having shouted: “You have no mandate”, while Trump began his speech.
