Opening of a health center for the elderly in San Marcos; $325,000 raised at the gala

A new North County Seniors Health Center opens at 1595 Grand Ave. in San Marcos.
The 1,865-square-foot facility is part of a network of 14 clinics operated by TrueCare, a San Marcos-based nonprofit community health care provider that serves North County and neighboring Riverside County.
The TrueCare Older Adult Health Center, as it is called, will offer tours to the public from 1 to 2 p.m. on June 6 as part of its grand opening and grand opening, hosted with the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce.

The new health center is intended for adults aged 50 and over who have complex and chronic health problems. Some of the health care services at this location include medication management with a pharmacist, medical care management, podiatry, and chiropractic and acupuncture services.
The bilingual English and Spanish community health center provides assistance with transportation to appointments and offers other resources such as free assistance with health insurance enrollment and nutritional support as well as courses in health care. diabetes education and blood pressure checks, among other programs.
The nonprofit raised more than $325,000 at its recent “Havana Nights” gala, with part of the proceeds going to the new health center. TrueCare’s fundraiser will also be used to help provide elderly patients with services such as transportation to appointments and one-on-one assistance with virtual healthcare tools.
TrueCare was established over 50 years ago and serves nearly 60,000 patients annually with a focus on caring for diverse underserved community members.
