OpenAI is launching a new flagship generative AI model called GPT-4o, which will be rolled out “iteratively” across the company’s products over the coming weeks.
Muri Murati, CTO of OpenAI, said that GPT-4o provides “GPT-4 level” intelligence, but improves on GPT-4’s text, vision and audio capabilities.
“GPT-4o reasons through voice, text and vision,” Murati said during a keynote presentation at the OpenAI offices.
Additionally, OpenAI releases a desktop version of ChatGPT and a refreshed user interface.
“We know that these models (are becoming) more and more complex, but we want the interaction experience to actually become more natural, easier, and you don’t focus on the user interface at all, but just on collaboration with (GPT),” Murati said.
