OpenAI’s ChatGPT Mac App Now Available to Everyone

Over the past month, OpenAI has been gradually rolling out its first-ever ChatGPT app for Mac to Plus subscribers. Starting today, however, OpenAI said that the ChatGPT application for macOS is now accessible to everyone.

OpenAI says the ChatGPT app for macOS is designed to “integrate seamlessly with everything you do on your computer.” The application was designed to be native to the Mac and offers a simple keyboard shortcut to launch it from anywhere (CMD + Space).

The ChatGPT app for macOS allows you to easily interact with the chatbot. You can also choose to attach items like files, photos, and screenshots to your messages and let ChatGPT use those items.

You can also access the Voice Mode feature to interact with ChatGPT using your vice. OpenAI says a new version of Voice Mode with GPT-4o capabilities will be available on Mac in the coming weeks.

For free and paid users, we’re also launching a new ChatGPT desktop app for macOS designed to integrate seamlessly with everything you do on your computer. With a simple keyboard shortcut (Option + Space), you can instantly ask ChatGPT a question. You can also take and discuss screenshots directly within the app.

You can now have voice conversations with ChatGPT directly from your computer, starting with the voice mode that was available in ChatGPT at launch, with new audio and video capabilities in GPT-4o coming soon. Whether you want to brainstorm a new idea for your business, prepare for an interview, or have a topic you’d like to discuss, tap the headset icon in the bottom right corner of the desktop app to start a voice chat.

You can download the ChatGPT app for macOS from the OpenAI website. It’s available for free, while ChatGPT Plus subscribers can log in and access their full account.
