Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Gets Premiere Date and Star-studded First Trailer

Only Murders in the Building has revealed its first teaser for season 4 and set its premiere date for August.

The trailer for Only Murders in the Building, the “most star-studded season yet” was revealed during Disney’s upfront presentation, confirming that the hit comedy-drama will debut its highly anticipated fourth season on Hulu and Disney+ on August 27, starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez returns for more detective shenanigans.

This time, however, the true crime trio is packing their bags and heading to Hollywood, where there will be lights, cameras and lots of action.

“Our trio of amateur podcasters grapple with the shocking events at the end of season three surrounding Charles; the voice actor and his friend Sazz Pataki,” reads the official season 4 diary. “Wondering if she or Charles was the intended victim, their investigation leads them to Los Angeles, where a Hollywood studio is preparing a film on the Only Murders podcast. As Charles, Oliver and Mabel return to New York, they embark on an even bigger journey. epic: crossing the courtyard of their building to immerse themselves in the twisted world of the lives of the residents of the west tower of Arconia.

The fourth season will see Meryl Streep returning as Loretta, Michael Cyril Creighton as Howard, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph reprising her role as Detective Dee Williams. They will join special guests Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis, Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, Melissa McCarthy, Richard Kind and more.

Only Murders in the Building comes from co-creators and writers Steve Martin and John Hoffman, who produce with Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal. The hit series received a season 4 renewal on the same day as the season 3 finale, which left things up in the air.

Season 3 garnered generally favorable reviews, but IGN felt that it had “lost sight of what made the first two seasons of the true-crime parody so compelling” by not devoting enough time “to solving the mystery at the center” of the thriller. The finale aired on October 3, leaving season 4 to pick up the pieces on August 27.
