OnePlus is starting the 2025 collection of new Android phones on a high note as the device delivers a top-notch experience at a fair price in its global debut. Here’s what you need to know.
OnePlus 13 price and specifications
The OnePlus 13 has already been available in China for almost two months, so let’s take a quick look at the specifications which remain unchanged for the global market. Snapdragon 8 Elite puts on a show under the hood, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There’s a 6,000mAh battery with 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging – there’s still a charger in the US and Canada, and all other regions won’t include one.
The screen is a 6.82-inch 120Hz AMOLED LPTO 4.1 panel that uses a “Ceramic Guard” in place of Gorilla Glass. OnePlus claims this provides “superior drop protection and scratch resistance.” The cover glass is now virtually flat, with only a 2.5D edge on all four sides to improve damage resistance. The OnePlus 13 is also IP69 rated, which means not only does it offer the benefits of IP68, but it can also handle higher temperatures or more powerful water jets.
Out of the box, the OnePlus 13 also runs Android 15 with OxygenOS 15. OnePlus will deliver four years of major Android updates as well as six years of security updates (still on a bi-monthly schedule).
As for cameras, OnePlus is once again stocking up on Sony’s new Lytia technology, with a 50MP LYT-808 main camera, 50MP LYT-600 for the 3x optical telephoto lens and finally a Samsung S5KJN5 for gaming. 50MP ultra-wide shot. A 32 MP Sony IMX615 is used for selfies.
There’s no Qi2 in the OnePlus 13, unfortunately, but OnePlus sells a line of cases including magnetic attachments compatible with Qi2 and MagSafe, as well as OnePlus’ new AIRVOOC magnetic charger.
In the US, the OnePlus 13 will start at $899 (USD), an increase of $100 over the OnePlus 12. Full US and Canada pricing for the OnePlus 13 and its accessories are as follows:
- OnePlus 13 in “Black Eclipse” version 12 GB/256 GB – $899.99 USD / $1,249.99 CAD
- OnePlus 13 in “Black Eclipse”, “Arctic White” and “Midnight Ocean” 16GB/512GB – $999.99 USD / $1,399.99 CAD
- OnePlus 13 Magnetic Case in Wood Grain or Aramid Fiber – $39.99 USD / $54.99 CAD
- OnePlus 13 Sandstone Magnetic Case – $24.99 USD / $34.99 CAD

Practical: the OnePlus 13 sets the bar high for 2025
Ahead of today’s announcement, I’ve had the pleasure of testing the OnePlus 13 over the past few weeks.
A full review is coming very soon – drop a comment if you’d like to see anything in particular – but the short version is that I think OnePlus is setting the bar very high for all other Android phones coming in 2025, and in a way which is not the case in the past.
OnePlus smartphones have a complicated history of always having a few asterisk, whether it’s the camera, the price, some wacky compatibility quirk, or some lame excuse about wireless charging. But that’s simply not the case with the OnePlus 13.
There are two areas that have particularly stood out to me over the past few weeks.
First of all, the hardware. No more evil that is a curved screen. The edges of the glass are still curved, but the screen is not, which means the device is more comfortable to use, less prone to random touches or reflections, and it should be easy to find a screen protector. Cheap and well-fitted screen for this device. In terms of overall usability, this is the biggest upgrade here. I’ve also become a big fan of the “Midnight Ocean” variant with its “vegan” leather backing. It’s soft and grippy, and seems to get better with time – we’ll talk more about that in our next review.
Then there’s the camera, which is stunning. The OnePlus Open and OnePlus 12 were already big steps in the right direction for OnePlus in the camera department, and the OnePlus 13 appears to be the culmination of that effort. The camera here is sharp, makes firm processing decisions that often deliver a delightfully contrasty look, and is also very consistent. It’s a stunning shooter overall, and really gives the Pixel in my other pocket a run for its money.
Some examples:
OxygenOS 15 has also improved many quirks that I didn’t like in the past, while battery life is also noticeably improved. Snapdragon 8 Elite is also off to a good start in my opinion.
