One suspect arrested, second suspect on the loose in Randolph armed robbery

One suspect is in custody and police are searching for a second after an armed robbery of a vehicle in the Johnson Drive area of ​​Randolph Monday, police said.

“Residents may notice a large police presence in the area while the search and investigation is ongoing,” Randolph police said in a statement.

Officers responded to the area of ​​Johnson Drive after receiving a report of an armed robbery around 1:20 p.m. Monday, according to the release. Two suspects allegedly robbed a person in a vehicle, officials said.

No injuries were reported during the incident, according to police.

An 18-year-old Malden man was arrested after a foot chase by officers, the release states. He allegedly stole jewelry and a cell phone from the victim.

The second suspect fled on foot towards the municipal landfill area, located next to Route 24.

The State Police Air Wing is assisting Randolph police in the search. Officers armed with long guns and K-9 units were on scene near Johnson Drive Monday afternoon, NBC 10 Boston reported.

The outlet also spoke to a witness who said he saw a car “running” down his street before being abandoned on his lawn.
