A day earlier, one person was killed and another injured after a shooting at a central Florida mall, and the shooter remains on the run.

The Ocala Police Department confirmed a man was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman with a gunshot wound to the leg was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

The shooter is believed to be a black man wearing a dark hoodie, black pants and a mask partially covering his face, according to Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken.

Authorities responded to calls reporting an “active shooter” at Paddock Mall in Ocala, located 80 miles northwest of Orlando, around 3:40 p.m. Saturday.
