One injured after reports of explosion at TSMC factory north of Phoenix

PHOENIX — One person was injured after reports of an explosion at the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.

Firefighters from the Phoenix, Glendale and Daisy Mountain fire departments responded to the commercial site near 43rd Avenue and Dove Valley Road in north Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon.

A man, believed to be a worker at the site, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Phoenix fire officials.

The ABC15 helicopter noted a strong presence of rescue teams on the scene.

TSMC Arizona sent ABC15 the following statement regarding the incident on Wednesday:

“We are aware of an incident at our construction site in Arizona in which a waste disposal truck driver was transported to a local hospital. No TSMC employees or construction workers on site were injured. reported related injuries. There was no damage to our facilities. We are working closely with local authorities. This is an active investigation with no additional details that can be shared at this time.
