One dead, two injured after shooting down I-80 in Oakland – The Mercury News

OAKLAND — One person was killed and several others injured in two separate shootings on I-80 in the early hours of Saturday morning, California Highway Patrol officials said.

In one incident, shots were fired in Oakland around 2:50 a.m. Passengers in two cars were involved in the shooting and both cars later left the area. One of the passengers was pronounced dead after being hit by gunfire, and two passengers in another car were injured and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Eastbound lanes of I-80 were closed for about an hour to document the evidence, highway officials said. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the CHP information line at (707) 917-4491.
