Some international aid organizations have sent a clear message to Israel: they will not cooperate with the new humanitarian aid plan unless several modifications are made. This was reported to The Jerusalem post by two Western diplomats familiar with the details of the discussions.
This week, the Israeli security firm has approved a new humanitarian aid distribution plan when determined that help stored in the Gaza Strip in recent months has exhausted. As part of the new plan, the aid will be distributed directly to the families of the centers located in the southern part of the Gaza strip in the areas entirely controlled by the FDI. This marks a change compared to the previous method in which the aid was delivered by trucks entering various areas of Gaza, a system which allowed Hamas to loot the supplies.
The same organizations that previously provided Gaza aid should provide incoming foods. However, two Western diplomats declared to Job That some of these organizations would not cooperate on the initiative if Israel has implemented a list that has prevented some people from receiving assistance. The new system aims to provide families directly to families.
International aid organizations repel the Israeli model
A Western diplomat familiar with discussions said Job that the aid organizations were not necessarily against the distribution system that Israel had proposed.
“It is not necessarily that organizations are opposed to a new distribution model, as Israel proposes, but they are not willing to accept a system in which the FDI and the Israeli security device decide who receives help and that does not.”
The Israeli concept behind the aid distribution list is that “it will establish an area in the south of Gaza with aid centers and will only allow those who are not members of Hamas or identified in Hamas to enter”.
But organizations say that anyone who is not in this area – either because they have not succeeded in the projection of FDIs to the control points to reach the southern zone or have chosen to stay in the North / Central of Gaza – will not receive aid. “It’s unacceptable,” say the organizations.
Even one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world, World Central Kitchen, which previously operated in Gaza, clearly indicated that it would refuse to cooperate with the plan, according to another Western diplomat.
THE Job reported on Wednesday that Israel and the United States had held meetings with UN representatives in order to persuade them to join the framework. COGAT managers (Israeli coordinator of government activities in the territories) have recently met representatives of the UN. Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff informed the United Nations Security Council on the issue on Wednesday.
According to a source familiar with the issue, the United States has even threatened to reduce its UN funding if the organization refused to cooperate with the new plan.
“It is not a question of financing,” said a senior official Job. “”We will not participate in a humanitarian aid distribution system that violates our fundamental principles. “”
