Once I retire, you won’t see me for a while, says Virat Kohli

Well aware that he ‘can’t go on forever’, Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli wants to give his all to his cricketing career as he says once he’s done, he’ll be ‘gone ” and will not be seen again. for a while.” Kohli’s appetite for runs and centuries has already earned him a record eighth ton in the IPL this season and he continues to lead the run-scoring charts with a mind-boggling 661 runs in 13 matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

In a video posted by RCB on social media, the 35-year-old said the desire to live a life without regrets kept him going.

“So it’s just a matter of not leaving any unfinished business and not having any regrets later, which I’m sure I won’t. Once I’m done, I’ll be gone; you won’t see me again for a while.

“So, I want to give everything I have until the moment I play and that is the only thing that keeps me going,” Kohli said when asked what makes him hungry.

Kohli was picked up by RCB soon after leading India to the title in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup and he has continued to be a part of the franchise ever since.

“I think as athletes we have an end date to our career, so I’m just working backwards, I don’t want to end my career thinking that if I had done that on that day because I “I can’t go on like this forever,” he added.

The former Indian captain is part of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup in USA and West Indies which begins next month.

Former India player Harbhajan Singh had recently felt that RCB should think about giving the team’s captaincy back to Kohli, saying he has an ideal combination of intent, commitment and aggression to take things forward the team starting next season.

South African Faf du Plessis currently manages RCB.

Kohli has appeared in 113 Tests, 292 ODIs and 117 T20Is. he has amassed over 26,000 international runs across all formats.

Kohli holds the record for the most runs in the history of T20 World Cups with 1141 to his name.

India are placed in Group A of the tournament, alongside arch foes Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and co-hosts USA.

They will begin their campaign on June 5 against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York before facing Pakistan on June 9.
