“I think our team has really hit a new high level with the simulation on the clothes, the beautiful design, the environments,” said director Byron Howard. “Everything is so beautiful about it, and we’re so proud of them.”

The new image is a musical with original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who created “Hamilton”.

“It felt like I walked into Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory every day I was at work,” said Charise Castro Smith, who was also on the film’s directing crew. “The team that animated, designed, lit, rigged this film … they are extraordinary.”

Stephanie Beatriz, who plays the main character, Mirabel, was more than impressed with the finished product.

“It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen on screen,” she said. “This is such a crazy and talented group of artists and artisans.”

In the film, Mirabel is a young Colombian girl who happens to be the only member of her family without magical powers, and she’s the only person who may have to save the family when danger hits their magical home in their beautiful village. .

“Home”, it turns out, is where part of “Encanto” was created.

“What was really weird about this movie was that because of COVID we were at home watching the movie on a laptop,” said Jared Bush, the third of the film’s directors. “Only a few months ago we went to the movies and saw for the first time on the big screen what it looked like. We were like, ‘Oh my God!’

“Encanto” ranks as the best opener for an animated film since the start of the pandemic.
