Omar criticizes McCarthy for reaffirming his vow to exclude him from committees

“From the moment I was elected, the Republican Party has made it its mission to use fear, xenophobia, Islamophobia and racism to target me on home soil and through millions of dollars worth of campaign ads,” she said in a lengthy statement after McCarthy renewed his “promise” to bar the congresswoman from committees.

McCarthy, whom House Republicans nominate House Speaker, first told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview last January that he would strip Omar of his assignment on the House Foreign Affairs Committee as well. as Representatives Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA) from their assignments to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI).

As the Hill noted that Omar has long been critical of Israel in addition to the county’s actions in the occupied Palestinian territories, which has earned him criticism from his own party.

“McCarthy’s efforts to repeatedly single me out for contempt and hatred, including threatening to remove me from my committee, do nothing to address the issues facing our constituents,” she added. “It does nothing to fight inflation, health care or solve the climate crisis.”

Instead of doing anything to address the open hostility towards religious minorities in his party, McCarthy is now raising people like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Emmer and so many others. If he cared to deal with the rising hatred, he would apologize and make sure other members of his party apologized.

Omar claimed that the only thing McCarthy’s ‘threat’ does is ‘instill fear and hatred against Somali Americans and all who share my identity, and further divide us along racial and ethnic lines “.
