Olympic broadcasting center and film studio coming to Hollywood Park

The owner of the Rams, Stan Kroenke, built a film studio next to the Sofi stadium in Inglewood which will serve as an international broadcasting center for the 2028 Olympic Games.

The construction will start in summer on the studio and the production installation which will house hundreds of broadcasters from around the world who have acquired rights to cover the summer games in Los Angeles, Kroenke company said on Tuesday.

After the games, the installation known as Hollywood Park Studios will be used to make films, television shows and other productions and perhaps organize live shows.

Development is part of Hollywood Park, a complex of several billion dollars built on the site of an old horse racing track also known as Hollywood Park which includes the stadium, apartments, theaters, offices, stores and restaurants.

A luxury hotel is under construction there, and more development, including a grocery store and medical offices, are taken into account.

Kroenke’s organization hopes that the attention of the Olympic Games will strengthen the appeal of Hollywood Park studios as the future entertainment production center.

“We want it to be recognized worldwide,” said Alan Bornstein, who oversees the development of the studio for Kroenke.

The studio is part of the Hollywood Park Master development plan by focusing on the media, entertainment and technology, said Bornstein, anchored by the Sofi stadium, the YouTube theater and the NFL media office building.

“There has been an increasing convergence of the media, technology and sports, all under the concept of entertainment which is now distributed in several channels,” said Bornstein, “whether by streaming or through television or films broadcast in theaters”, “

The first phase of the Hollywood Park studios will occupy 12 acres and include five sound scene, each 18,000 square feet, two of which could be opened in a single stage of 36,000 square feet.

The complex will have a three -storey office building and 80,000 square feet to support stadium, production and postproduction activities. The studios will have a dedicated open base camp where the trucks, equipment and trailers of the actors could be placed, as well as a parking structure for 1,100 cars. Future development could include up to 20 stages and 200,000 square feet of related office space.

The additional steps would be built to adapt to future tenants as the request emerges, said Bornstein, who refused to estimate how much the studio complex will cost.

Although the demand for sound internships exceeded supply a few years ago, production recently slowed down and attenuated current needs for them.

Last year, the average annual occupancy rate fell to 63%, another indication of the slowdown in sustained Hollywood production, according to a recent filmla report, a non -profit organization that follows on filming days in the Grand Los Angeles region.

It was a drop compared to 2023, which experienced an average regional occupancy rate of 69%. It was the year when the double strikes by writers and actors paralyzed the economy of local production for months.

The foray into Hollywood level production facilities is part of Kroenke’s goal of combining sports, entertainment and media around the world, said Bornstein.

In addition to the RAMS, Kroenke owns the Denver Nuggets basketball team, the Colorado avalado hockey team, the Colorado Rapids football team, the Soccer team of Mammoth Colorado based in London.

The Sofi stadium, where the loaders also play football, will be converted into the largest place of Olympic swimming in history during the games in 2028. It will host the Olympic opening ceremony with the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, as well as the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games.

Kroenke is also a large property and owner promoter. The 300-acre Hollywood Park project is one of the largest development developments in mixed construction in the western United States. The Sofi stadium alone costs $ 5 billion to build.

Last month, he also unveiled plans for a new RAMS headquarters on a 100 acres site at the Warner Center in Woodland Hills which would include a residential and retail community intended to be the centerpiece of the San Fernando Valley. This could cost more than the total price of Hollywood Park, which was evaluated by outdoor observers at more than $ 10 billion.

The creation of a second epicenter in Woodland Hills allows RAMS to considerably increase the size of their footprint on the southern market of California.

“When you are looking to make a training center, you don’t need to be in the middle of everything, and generally this property is very expensive,” Kroenke told Times. “We have built an identity in the valley, with Cal Lutheran, and many of our players and families are up there. Our experience was really good. ”

The Architecture Cabinet Gensler directed the design of the headquarters of the Warner Center and the Hollywood Park studios. Clayco will be the general entrepreneur of the studio, Pacific Edge acting as a project manager. The funding was organized by Guggenheim Investments.
