San Francisco – A judge sentenced an East Bay woman on Monday to 33 months and one day in the federal prison for having made false insurance complaints using stolen identities, according to the prosecutors.
Kari Marie Russo, 46, of Oakland, pleaded guilty at the end of last year to two fraudulent managers of an unauthorized access system, two aggravated identity leaders and a non-comparison chief, said the US prosecutor’s office in a press release.
From June 2020, Russo and his co -owner – Steven Dunsmore, 35, also of Oakland – participated in a conspiracy to file fraudulent insurance complaints at the California employment development service using personal information from other people without their permission, according to prosecutors.
Personal identification information included names, birth dates and social security numbers.
Prosecutors said the duo received $ 336,545 in EDD funds.
Dunsmore pleaded guilty in February 2024 to two chiefs of fraudulent use of an unauthorized access system and two aggravated identity flight chiefs, according to the prosecutors. In June 2024, Dunsmore was sentenced to two years and a day in prison.
In addition to the terms of the prison, Dunsmore and Russo were ordered to pay $ 336,545 in return.
