OAKLAND – Federal prosecutors claim that a 38 -year -old man has pocketed a check for $ 50,000 that Steph and Ayesha Curry wrote for an East Oakland boxing club, all to obtain Amazon items, a vacation rental property and a SUV.
American lawyers accused Howard Solomon, of Oakland, with several charges of postal fraud and tax evasion in an alleged regime to siphon money from the East Oakland Boxing Association, a non -profit organization that he led for several years, according to a press release announcing the accusations.
If it is convicted, Solomon could incur up to 20 years in prison and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.
Prosecutors say that Solomon worked as the club’s executive director in 2017 and, at some point, began to move money from the organization to its own bank accounts. Among the checks he would have stolen, there was a donation of $ 50,000 that the Currys made in 2019 on Ellen Degeneres Show, as part of the Ellen “Ellen’s Greatest Nightaways” segment, according to the American prosecutor’s office.
Solomon would have used boxing club money for a multitude of personal expenses, including a vacation rental property, an Ford Explorer and Amazon items, the lawyer’s office said.
Solomon is also accused of producing false income statements from 2018 to 2021 – The year he left the non -profit organization – to hide the detached money, said the agency.
The accusations were filed on February 26.
