NYPD hunts for suspect who slashed straphanger in NYC subway station

A 24-year-old man was punched by a maniac in an unprovoked attack at a Manhattan subway station early Monday morning, police and sources said.

The victim was buying a MetroCard on the mezzanine of the 47-50 Street-Rockefeller Center station in Midtown around 12:20 a.m. when an unidentified man slipped up behind him and punched him on the right side of the face with a sharp instrument. authorities said.

The suspect then fled on foot. According to police sources, it was an unprovoked attack.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, but suffered a “severe laceration” to his face, police said.

No arrests have been made. The New York Police Department released images and an image of the wanted suspect Monday evening.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white hoodie and brown pants.
