NYPD chief swarmed by anti-Israel protesters and berated while seeking shelter in NYU building

Out-of-control protesters at New York University swarmed and berated a New York police chief and his officers – calling them “fucking fascists” – after handcuffing one of the protesters at a rally anti-Israeli, as shown in a wild new video.

The viral video, shared onshows NYPD Deputy Chief James McCarthy and his officers chased and surrounded by protesters Monday evening as they attempted to enter NYU’s Catholic Center after arresting one of them.

” Kiss my ass ! Fuck you, pigs,” the crowd could be heard shouting as they harassed the officers and demanded they release the woman in custody.

McCarthy could be seen struggling to open the glass doors as protesters circled behind him, effectively trapping the cops and shouting expletives.

Some officers could be seen swatting protesters’ hands away before McCarthy pushed his way through the crowd and led officers around the side of the building in search of another entrance.

As they followed the police, protesters could be heard chanting: “Free! Liberate Palestine! “, while also calling the officers “F–king fascists.”

The woman in custody also begged the officers to let her go, shouting: “All I did was throw a f***ing bag!” »

As police eventually found an entrance, they rushed inside while chasing away a protester who was trying to force their way through.

Protesters were left on the other side of the glass doors, with officers guarding the entrance closed while demonstrators banged on the doors and hurled further insults at them.

Protesters shouted “Shame” as they accused the police of breaking the law and “kidnapping” the protester.

The NYPD did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

The wild incident occurred when New York police were called to clear the campus encampment set up at NYU on Monday evening, with more than 100 protesters arrested.

Students had created their own “tent city” in solidarity with the massive encampment at Columbia University, with NYU students demanding that their own school divest assets linked to Israel because of the Gaza war.

During Monday night’s clashes with police, some protesters threw bottles at NYPD officers as they worked to clear the encampment, with one striking an officer in the face. head with a chair, New York police said.
