NYC man rescued after NYPD officers jump onto Bronx subway tracks

Dramatic body camera footage captured the thrilling moment two NYPD officers raced into a Bronx subway station to save a man who had fallen onto the tracks during a medical emergency.

Two of New York’s finest from the 47th Ward rushed into the station during rush hour at the Third Avenue/149th St. station just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The man, who was apparently suffering a seizure, landed inches from the deadly third rail as a train quickly approached the concourse.

One of the agents was able to access the platform thanks to a passenger who opened the emergency exit door for him, while the other was forced to jump through the turnstile.

“Despite the imminent dangers, @NYPD47Pct officers took action and without hesitation took it outside the box” the NYPD said.

“Go, go, go,” an officer shouts as they grab the man and pull him off the tracks with the help of several bystanders on the platform.

The officers followed suit and attempted to escape the tracks, one easily making it back onto the platform while the other heroic officer struggled to escape danger.

The heroes’ work wasn’t finished there as they went to treat the sick man who was now lying on his side.

“What’s your name mate, what’s your name,” one of the officers asked, as police investigated how the man ended up on the train tracks.

“He fell off the rails, we picked him up, he was having a seizure. “I thought the train was coming, I thought the train was going to hit us.”

After this ordeal, the police received praise from several people present at the police station.

“You saved a life,” one man said.

“They both risked their lives by jumping onto the tracks to save his life,” added a woman sitting outside on a bench near an ambulance.

“You all did a good job. Really, very good work.
