NY Dem congressional hopeful slammed for ‘die MAGA die’ message after Ukraine aid vote

A Democratic congressional candidate from New York celebrated the House’s passage of a $60 billion bill to fund Ukraine while hoping for the death of the MAGA movement, a post published on X Shows.

“Slava Ukraine,” New York congressional candidate Nate McMurray posted on X on Saturday afternoon.

“Die MAGA, die. You lose,” he added of supporters of former President Trump and those who agree with the “Make America Great Again” agenda.

McMurray’s tweet follows the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of a bill Saturday that provides $60 billion for Ukraine amid the ongoing war against Russia. The aid package passed by a vote of 311 to 112, with more Republicans voting against the bill, at 112, than Republicans voting for it, at 101.

McMurray is running to represent New York’s 26th Congressional District, which includes parts of Erie and Niagara counties in the state’s western area, having previously served as a Grand Island town supervisor and attorney.

Some conservatives spoke out against continuing to fund Ukraine while the United States faces a border crisis, and some voted against the bill because it did not include funding to secure the border American.

Nate McMurray’s anti-MAGA tweet has angered the GOP. P.A.

“Today I voted no… These bills were introduced as part of an artificial process aimed at achieving a predetermined outcome: a $100 billion, unpaid, unpaid foreign aid package. succeed in securing the border,” said Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas. , said.

“For months, House Republicans – particularly Speaker Mike Johnson – have unequivocally stated that we will not send billions in additional aid to Ukraine without first securing our own border. This package represents a complete reversal of a position that previously unified the Republican conference, despite the clear and present danger that the southern border poses to U.S. national security. »

“States and cities across our country are grappling with the consequences of Biden’s border crisis, inflation continues to squeeze the budgets of every American household, and our country is more than $34 trillion in debt” , Rep. Ben Cline, R-Va., said Saturday. “As I continue to fight for the people of Virginia’s 6th District, I urge my colleagues in Congress and the Biden Administration to listen to the American people and prioritize their concerns.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., a Trump supporter, criticized President Johnson, R-La., for defending the bill’s passage, calling him a “traitor to our country.” Greene is also leading an effort to oust Johnson as president.

“Zelensky thanks President Mike Johnson (D-Ukraine) for sending $61 BILLION of your hard-earned tax dollars to fuel a foreign war. Johnson once again passed a bill with the help of Democrats while the majority of the Republican majority voted against it. Not only is Mike Johnson a traitor to our conference, he is also a traitor to our country,” Greene tweeted Saturday.

McMurray faced criticism on social media for his “Die MAGA die” comment, including from those who said he seemed to be hoping for the death of MAGA movement voters. Others said they reported McMurray to X for inciting violence.

McMurray issued a follow-up message to Trump supporters on Saturday, saying the MAGA movement should “expire,” “disappear” or “disintegrate.”

“Dear MAGA: Send your regards to MAGA Mike, not me. He loves freedom and Ukraine too. You see, even your leaders don’t REALLY like your sick and twisted, anti-freedom, anti-American MAGA movement. This should… let me see, what word should I use? Expire? Disappear? Or maybe something stronger that starts with a “d” Disintegration? McMurray continued in another post on Saturday.

Fox News Digital contacted McMurray’s campaign Sunday morning and also messaged the congressional candidate on social media, but did not immediately receive additional comment on the posts and their subsequent criticism.

McMurray is currently facing a lawsuit from a Democratic challenger in the House race, Sen. Tim Kennedy, who last week asked a state court to remove McMurray’s name from the Democratic primary ballot. The state senator’s lawsuit claims that more than 1,000 signatures collected for McMurray’s election petition are invalid, either due to circumstances “constituting fraud” or were collected by an ineligible canvasser, WBFO reported .

McMurray has denied the allegations.

The 26th District was previously represented by Democrat Brian Higgins, who officially resigned from the position in February. A special election will be held April 30 to replace Higgins for the remaining months of his term. McMurray is only running in the Democratic primary before the November general election, not in the special election.
