NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 “Blackwell” GPUs will feature similar GPC counts to “Lovelace”

Leaker Reveals NVIDIA RTX 50 “Blackwell” Details in Response to “Boring Jensen Presentation”

The NVIDIA GB20X series will feature similar GPC numbers.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 was not presented at Computex 2024, although this gaming architecture is expected to hit the market this year. Kopite7kimi, one of the most respected NVIDIA hardware leakers, has shared more details about the GB20X family of GPUs.

Today, NVIDIA confirmed Kopite’s rumor that Vera Rubin has been chosen as the godmother of next-generation data centers. NVIDIA is yet to roll out its predecessor ‘Blackwell’ for AI-accelerated servers, but the company is reportedly working on gaming variants simultaneously.

According to the latest leak, most GB20X GPUs will have the same GPU configuration as the existing AD10X (Ada Lovelace) GPUs. The leak specifically concerns GPCs (Graphics Processing Clusters) with no clear statement about SMs (Streaming Multiprocessors) or CUDA cores.

If this information is correct, the GB203 should now have fewer cores than before (84 instead of 96 SM). Similarly, the GB205 GPU, which succeeds the AD104, is expected to feature 60 SMs, and the GB202 could offer 36. The only GPU that does not have a similar GPC count is the GB207.

It is further claimed that only the GB202 and GB203 GPUs will be mentioned in the short term, as the GB205, GB206 and GB207 are still in development. In other words, we should expect the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 series to be announced this year and more SKUs will likely launch next year.
