Nuggets, Heat reportedly lose major free agent target to Warriors

The Denver Nuggets have had a very quiet offseason so far. After losing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to the Orlando Magic and trading Reggie Jackson to the Charlotte Hornets, Denver has yet to replace either player. The Nuggets have a strong interest in acquiring Russell Westbrook from the LA Clippers, but he is still under contract with them, so that situation is not resolved.

In a recent report by Michael Scotto of HoopsHypeIt has been revealed that Denver and the Miami Heat were both interested in sharpshooting guard Buddy Hield before he joined the Golden State Warriors in a sign-and-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

As Scotto mentioned, Denver didn’t have the financial flexibility to acquire Hield, but they were still interested in doing so. Hield could theoretically have given Denver some of what Caldwell-Pope did during his time there, but they’re not the same players. As for Miami, there have been rumors that they’re interested in a few different players, but they’ve also had a relatively quiet period of trades in terms of outside additions.

There are still plenty of moves to be made in the NBA this summer, as several key players are expected to change teams between now and the start of next season. As for Denver, they haven’t been involved in much of this yet, but they likely will at some point.
