Nottingham Forest launched a granted attack on “ unusual and poorly informed outsourcing ” on social networks after Gary Neville criticized the owner Evangelos Marinakis for storming the field after the 2-2 draw with Leicester on Sunday.
Marinakis was spotted in what seemed to be a stormy exchange with the manager Nuno Espirito Santo after the match, but it is understood that he did not demonstrate with the forest boss.
He was rather concerned about Taiwo Awoniyi and to find out if the serious abdominal injuries suffered by the forest attacker – what mail sport revealed could be fatal in some cases – could have been better managed by the club’s medical team.
Marinakis who goes to the field to speak in Nuno has encouraged Neville to explode the owner of the forest and to assert that Nuno should immediately leave the club.
“Scandalous of this forest owner,” posted Neville on X. “Nuno should go to negotiate his release this evening with him! Fans, players and the forest manager do not deserve it.
Jamie Carragher had described Marinakis as “embarrassing” and told him to “get out of the field” on the cover of Sky sports “of Forest’s confrontation with Leicester.
The owner of Nottingham Forest Evangelos Marinakis approached Nuno Espirito Santo on Sunday – but did not demonstrate with the forest director

And Forest seemed to retaliate in Neville – and others who called Marinakis for her actions – in a bomb declaration on Tuesday, which confirmed that Woniyi had undergone a “serious abdominal injury”.
Although it was not appointed Neville himself, the declaration referred to “ Fake News online ” and warned against “baseless indignation and poorly informed of the objectives of the personal traction of social media”.
“We urge the old coaches and players, and other public figures of the game, to resist the urge to rush to judgment and false news online, especially when they do not have the full facts and context – the least of all injured players,” said the club.
“Based and poorly informed indignation for the end of personal traction on social networks does not serve anyone – especially the injured player.
“We call these influential voices to show the same respect for the well-being of the players that they often demand from others. Let the concern come before the comments.
“In the Nottingham forest, we think that the mental and physical well-being of our players and coaches staff must always have priority-on media stories, inflammatory judgments and certainly on self-promotion.”
Forest also insisted that there had been no confrontation between Marinakis and the manager after the match, which established the club’s hopes to qualify for the Champions League next season.
“In the last ten minutes of the match, when he (Marinakis) saw our player clearly in discomfort, fighting by visible pain, he has become more and more difficult for him to stay on the sidelines,” added the club.

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has undergone urgent abdominal surgery, after undergoing an injury which, in some cases, may prove to be deadly

Awoniyi collided strongly with the post during the 2-2 draw with Leicester Sunday

He needed several minutes of treatment but played on despite the visible discomfort

Marinakis expressed his concern with regard to treatment with the medical staff of the injury
“ His deep frustration to see our player lying on the ground in intense pain – something that no one with real treatments could ignore – pushed him to go on the ground.
“It was instinctive, human and a reflection of the quantity of this team and its inhabitants for him. He would also do it again if such an unhappy event had to happen again.
“The truth is that there was no confrontation, with nuno or with others, whether in the field or inside the stadium.
“There was only a shared frustration between us all that the medical team should never have allowed the player to continue.”
Awoniyi crashed into a position in their 2-2 draw with Leicester and, after several minutes of treatment, he returned to action.
Forest confirmed on Tuesday that the 27 -year -old had undergone urgent surgery after confirmation of the injury on Monday and that he was transported to the hospital. We can now reveal that the injury was of nature which, in some cases, can be fatal.
Awoniyi, a Nigerian international, required about three minutes of treatment but could not be substituted after the forest used their last switch available to replace Elliot Anderson by Jota Silva.
He tried to continue, but could not move properly while Forest continued a winner who would have given a major boost to their hopes of the Champions League.

Gary Neville sparked Fury to Forest last year when he compared their actions to those of a “gang mafia”

Neville insults in response to Forest’s tweet after the defeat against Everton in April 2024
Forest’s declaration marks its last public row with former defender of Manchester United Neville.
Last year, Sky Sports was forced to apologize to Forest after Neville accused them of having acted as a “mafia gang”.
After a 2-0 defeat by Everton in April 2024, in which Forest thought of being denied three penalties, the club published an explosive declaration on X, questioning the appointment of Stuart Attwell as Var.
Neville compared Forest’s actions to those of a “Mafia gang”, with Marinakis later confirming to send an e-mail that his lawyers had “been in contact with Sky concerning Neville and that it is not yet finished”.
“The comments and words he used were inappropriate, did not correspond to reality and injured people.”
A press release published on the Sky Sports website on July 5 read: “ In response to a declaration by Nottingham Forest describing their grievances with PGMOL after their match with Everton on April 21 Gary Neville, commenting Super Sunday, strongly criticized the approach to Nottingham Forest.
“Sky Sports discussed with Gary the language used and its potential to cause an offense.
“Gary has agreed not to use the same terms or similar in future coverage.
“Sky Sports apologizes to Nottingham Forest for any offense caused by this language.”
