‘Nothing short of a disgrace’ – ex-Arsenal star hammers West Ham players for Chelsea performance

Perry Groves has criticized West Ham players for their shocking performance against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Hammers were absent for the entire match at Stamford Bridge and found themselves 4-0 down after just 48 minutes.

Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson all helped each other to goals before Jackson got his second, and Chelsea’s fifth, late on.

It could have been even more, with ex-Arsenal star Groves accusing them of playing “like a team on the beach in their flip-flops and lilies”.

Supporters voted with their feet as the outside of Stamford Bridge emptied after the fourth goal was scored.

At half-time Groves said: “There are five or six West Ham players not trying, they have lost their advantage.

“The (West Ham) players are playing as if their manager won’t be there next season.

“The West Ham players show no respect to Moyes.

“Chelsea look really hungry, Palmer and Gallagher are thriving because they aren’t challenged.”

Groves even singled out a few players for their poor performances.

He continued: “I can’t believe left-back Emerson is still on the pitch. I can’t believe David Moyes didn’t give him the hook, you’ve got Ben Johnson who can play here.

“If you asked Madueke what type of full-back he wants to play against every week, he would say Emerson.

“Emerson was horrible, (Lucas) Paqueta was horrible, Mohammed Kudus won’t even need to shower after the game.

“There are five West Ham players on the pitch walking around.

“West Ham were simply a disgrace.”
