“Nothing is worth your life”

NFL legends Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson weighed in on the Ricky Pearsall shooting, saying on their show “Nightcap” that “nothing is worth your life.”

Pearsall was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery as he tried to defend himself against the would-be thief who was trying to snatch his Rolex.

“OK, he’s fine. There’s another lesson to be learned from all this. There’s nothing worth living for,” Johnson said after Sharpe informed him that Pearsall was in stable condition.

“You can buy another Rolex. If someone tries to steal your car, you can buy another one.”

As the conversation continued, Sharpe responded to what Johnson had said by asking if “if someone comes up and he has no gun, no knife and he says ‘Ocho, give it up’. Do you take it off so freely?”

He said, “Yes! If someone comes up to you and says, ‘Let me take off what’s on your back,’ you already know they’ve got you.”

The 49ers rookie was shot and killed in San Francisco’s Union Square around 3:37 p.m. when a 17-year-old attempted to rob Pearsall at gunpoint over his luxury watch.

A struggle ensued over the gun and the gun fired several times, including the shot that hit Pearsall in the chest.

“First of all, I want to thank God for protecting my little boy,” Erin Pearsall, the player’s mother, wrote in a Facebook post, according to The Athletic. “He was very lucky, God protected him. He was shot in the chest and the bullet exited through his back. Thank God it didn’t hit his vital organs.”

The Arizona State University and University of Florida wide receiver was selected 31st overall by the Niners in this year’s draft.

A shoulder injury kept Pearsall out of all of the 49ers’ preseason games this summer.
