Norris, who won pole position at the Australian Grand Prix earlier during the day, challenged the way the manufacturers of the show portrayed its dynamics with Verstappen. While the documentary suggested a fierce rivalry, Norris insisted that the two were good friends and that the show has unnecessarily created a tension where it did not exist.
“They need to show the truth about people more. I’m not a fan of false things. I want facts, I don’t want invented scripts and fabricated nonsense, which there is. The representation of Max and how we were so much … They don’t need to create a drama. There is drama, they can just show the facts of the drama.”
“To represent someone in an incorrect way, people will have their opinion on this incorrect person. It is almost a lie in some respects,” said Norris. “I don’t think it’s correct. I don’t think you can paint someone in the bad image when it’s not the truth. It’s not just, especially when so many people like (the series) and believe what they see,” he added.
The controversy broke out after the Victory show of the Norris Grand Prix show in Miami last season. The series presented it as a close competition with Verstappen, even if Norris had won comfortably. In addition, images have shown that Verstappen seemed unhappy with the result, an image that was taken from the Dutch Grand Prix later in the season and not of Miami. After the counterposer of fans and pilots, Netflix deleted the segment, calling it “involuntary error”.
Verstappen himself rejected the false story, pointing out sarcastically: “Apparently, I was very sad after Miami. I literally spent the best time of all time on Sunday evening, so I don’t know what I was upset. ”
Despite the controversy, Norris continued his stellar start for the 2025 season with a spectacular victory in the Australian Grand Prix. The race, marked by unpredictable weather conditions, multiple accidents and periods of safety cars, saw Norris ensuring a hard victory. Verstappen took second place and George Russell de Mercedes arrived third.
