Norway, Ireland and Spain will recognize an independent Palestinian state, the prime ministers of the three countries said Wednesday, hoping to achieve a peaceful resolution to a conflict that has raged for more than 75 years.
“In the middle of a war, with tens of thousands dead and wounded, we must keep alive the only thing that can provide a safe home for Israelis and Palestinians: two states that can live in peace with each other. the other,” said the Prime Minister. Jonas Gahr Stoere said at a news conference, according to Reuters.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on social media that his country would approve the recognition of a Palestinian state during the May 28 Council of Ministers, according to a CNBC translation.
