Your support helps us tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change in Big Tech, the independent is on the ground when history develops. Whether it is to investigate the finances of the Pro-Trump PAC of Elon Musk or to produce our latest documentary, “ The A Word ”, which highlights American women who fight for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to analyze the facts of messaging.
At such a critical moment in American history, we need journalists on the ground. Your donation allows us to continue sending journalists to talk to both sides of history.
Independence is reliable by Americans in the whole political spectrum. And unlike many other quality media, we choose not to prevent Americans from our reports and analyzes with payment walls. We believe that quality journalism should be available for everyone, paid by those who can afford it.

The United Kingdom could be in an astronomical treat because the northern lights could be visible in certain parts of the country.
The Meta Office Space weather forecasts revealed which areas can have an overview of the northern lights this weekend.
Certain parts of Scotland may have the chance to see the Aurora on Saturday and Sunday evening, said the forecaster. But it is possible that the screen could be obstructed by the clouds.
Stephen Dixon of the Met Office said: “There is a chance of visibility on Aurora in the north of Scotland on Saturday evening thanks to a solar wind connecting to the earth.
“There will be breaks in the cloud in the region, increasing the chances of an observation for those of the region.
“There is a possibility of new potential observations on Sunday evening in the north of Scotland, although there is a certain uncertainty on this subject at the moment and other clouds can obscure the vision potential.”
The Aurora Boréalis is caused by sunscreen on the surface of the sun.
These storms give eclectically loaded particles which can travel millions of kilometers and, in some cases, they collide with the earth.
Although most of these solar particles are deflected, some are captured by the terrestrial magnetic field creating spectacular displays.
Auroras gives off several colors, such as purple, blue and pink, in the sky and are the most visible at night. These colors are created by two primary gases in the earth’s atmosphere – oxygen and nitrogen.
Oxygen causes green light and nitrogen releases notes of purple or blue, while a red shade can also be observed when oxygen is very high in the terrestrial atmosphere interacts with the solar particles.
Usually, northern lights are visible in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, Canada, north of the US state in Alaska and northern Siberia in Russia. They are rarely seen in the United Kingdom.
The more you are north, the more you may see the display, but due to recently increased solar activity, the North Lights have been identified as far south as Brighton and Cornwall.
According to the Met Office, the Northern Lights are the most active during the equinox and the solstice, around March and April or September and October.
The best visualization conditions are when the sky is dark and clear or any cloud and light pollution, as in distant areas facing the north horizon.
