The South Korea army said on Tuesday that it had shot warning after North Korean soldiers violated the military demarcation line before returning.
“Our soldiers carried out warning and warning shots after around 10 North Korean soldiers crossed the military demarcation line (MDL) in the eastern area of the demilitarized zone (DMZ) around 5:00 pm,” said joint staff chiefs (JCS) in a text message to journalists.
“Our soldiers closely monitor the North Korean military activity and take the necessary measures according to operational procedures,” said JCS.
Some of the North Korean soldiers were armed, according to the South Korean army.
Confrontations of blood and violent sometimes occurred on the highly fortified border, called demilitarized zone. But when the North Korean troops briefly violated the border in June of last year and prompted South Korea to shooting, it did not transform into a major source of tensions. South Korean officials assessed that soldiers did not deliberately commit the border intrusion, and that the site was a wooded area and that military demarcation lines were not clearly visible. South Korea has said that the North Koreans transported construction tools.

The reason for Tuesday’s border crossing by North Korean soldiers was not immediately clear.
