North Alden Street shooting leaves 9 dead, 3 injured in West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Police are investigating a mass shooting that took place in West Philadelphia.

Nine people were shot and injured, three of them dead.

It happened just after 2 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of North Alden Street.

According to authorities, it was all the result of a fight.

Police estimate more than 100 people were gathered when shots rang out.

According to Action News, all of the victims were adults between the ages of 20 and 30.

Detectives are now searching for the suspects involved.

“It appears there were multiple shooters, but we don’t know how many yet. We counted at least 25 to 30 spent shell casings at that time,” Inspector DF Pace said.

“We don’t know if it was a neighborhood party or just a group of people invited from other neighborhoods in the city. It’s not clear yet.”

Police said the surviving victims’ injuries range from stable to critical.

A weapon was found at the scene, but no suspects are in custody.
