Host Jake Tapper said: “In light of the terrorist attack in New Orleans, Trump’s allies are urging you and your Senate colleagues to act quickly to confirm the president’s national security team elected. You’ve expressed some opposition to Kash Patel’s nomination to head the FBI, but Republicans say delaying his confirmation would harm operational security. How do you react to this?
Klobuchar said, “We have a very functioning FBI right now that was investigating New Orleans, investigating, Las Vegas came out and told the public exactly what was going on. So I don’t think that’s the case. I believe in our work. We have just taken the oath. I have just taken an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. We have a duty of advice and consent. A number of our Republican colleagues in the Senate agree. “That’s why we need to have Kash Patel and other candidates for these very important security positions vetted by the FBI.”
She added: “We need to know their background. We need to see their financial disclosure forms. The president-elect has appointed a number of billionaires to these positions who could have all sorts of conflicts.”
