If one thing is clear, it is because Caitlin Clark does not like the drama around her and her compatriot of the star of the WNBA Angel Reese.
When Clark was questioned about the blatant fault she committed against Reese during the victory of the fever of the heaven 93-58 at the opening of the season of Saturday, the 23-year-old insisted that it was an intelligent game.
“Let’s not do something that is not,” said Clark after publishing the third triple-double of his career. “It was just a good game on basketball. I don’t know what the referee saw to upgrade it, and it is their discretion. It is a fault to put them on the line of free throws. I looked a lot of basketball in my life, that’s exactly what it was. I was not trying to do anything malicious. It is not the type of player I am.”
Reese said it was just a “basketball game” when asked after the match.
Clark committed the fault during the third trimester, pushing Reese on the ground under the basket to prevent him from taking a gunshot.
After examination, Clark was struck by a flagrant 1, with her and Reese being delivered technical because the two had to be separated by players from each team.
Clark finished the match with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists while the fever won in an eruption. Reese also had a good night, marking 12 points to accompany 17 rebounds.
Clark’s performance has even drawn the attention of LeBron James.
“Triple Dub CC !! Super way to launch the season!” James posted on X.
Earlier this week, Clark opened in ESPN on the way she feels more adjusted to the WNBA in her second season compared to the opening of last year when she was recruited that came out of a long season at Iowa University.
“Honestly, I don’t even really remember last year (opener),” Clark told ESPN this week. “Maybe it’s a good thing. I think (this year) it’s going right there and having fun and being confident. I’ve been in this league for a year now. I know I belong. I know I can play, and I can improve my teammates every evening. And that’s my job.
“Everything is not going to be perfect. Give yourself the grace. There will be very good times. There will be times when you have trouble. So, I just try to stay as neutral as possible and remain positive. But … I am in these previous moments, and I am ready for them.”
The fever will then play the dream on Tuesday evening.
