At this point, I’m convinced Nintendo fans might spontaneously burst into flames if we don’t get any official information. Switch 2 news soon, as another leaked image has apparently surfaced online, while pre-orders have opened on Amazon for a Switch 2 protective case.
The new image – which was shared by journalist and author Laura Kate Dale, who reports that it comes “from a reliable source” – is claimed to show the console’s dock, more specifically, part of the rear of it. It is claimed that the console will come with a 60W charger, and Dale adds that “to my knowledge, the current generation Switch AC charger cable will not be suitable for powering the Switch 2 when connected.”
With this apparent image of the dock, as well as the Joy-Con leaks that have recently emergedit feels a bit like we’re putting the console together like a puzzle. But what about that protective case, does that bring it all together? Well, like highlighted on ResetErait’s a real listing on Amazon Japanproduced by Laziro. If you enter a Japanese postal code, you can see that it’s supposed to be released on March 15th.
More importantly, does this give us our first full look at the console? No, definitely not – as was pointed out on ResetEra, the images appear to be the same as a mock-up render that first appeared a few weeks ago. If you look closely, you’ll even notice that the X and Y buttons aren’t in the right places compared to their usual layout. What’s disconcerting is the list’s insistence that this thing is only for the Switch 2, and is not compatible with anything else. This begs the question: is there actually a case for the console? Does a Really show up on March 15 if you place an order? Frankly, I have no idea – I’d be inclined to recommend waiting to see when the console itself comes out before purchasing any mystery accessories for it.
For now, Nintendo is making us all wait impatiently an announcement that we know arrives before the end of March. Either way, it really can’t come soon enough.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with Switch games, and Nintendo Switch Online will also return.
