Bail was denied on Monday for a gunman accused of killing one man and injuring another in Lawndale last week after two cars began cutting and colliding.

Richard Savado, 18, seized a gun from a driver’s waist bag after his car was rammed Friday night near California Avenue and Roosevelt Road, a Cook County prosecutor said in court Monday. .

Savado walked to the other car, reached out and fired six shots, fatally striking the driver, Nicholas Kochenburg, 42, and injuring the front passenger, 41, prosecutors said.

A passing Illinois State Police trooper witnessed the shooting and arrested Savado, prosecutors said.

Kochenburg and his passenger had recently met and were on their way to a party the night they were shot, prosecutors said.

A judge ordered Savado held without bail on charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder and unauthorized use of a weapon.
