New Jersey (WABC) – The talks resume Thursday between NJ Transit and his union of railway engineers to try to reach an agreement to avoid a scraping by the union early Friday.

Wednesday, outside the headquarters of the transit, the members of the fraternity of the engineers rallied and sang “millions of people paid their subscription; it is time to pay the crews of the train”.

“We do not want this to be the final result. We will meet again tomorrow. I hope we will get a resolution,” said Tom Haas, President of the Fraternity of Locomotive Engineers.

Friday, a raising at midnight would stop all the NJ public transport suburbs, which provide high -used public transport roads between the New York Penn station on one side of the Hudson River and the Northern New Jersey communities on the other.

A rail strike would have an impact on some 350,000 shuttles working in New Jersey and New York. NJ Transit is the country’s third public transport system, operating buses and rail in the state, offering nearly a million trips during the week.

Wages and working conditions were the main collision points for negotiations between the agency and the union.

The union claims that its members earn an average salary of $ 113,000 per year and indicates that an agreement could be concluded if the CEO of the Kris Kolluri agency accepts an average annual salary of $ 170,000.

NJ Transit Leadership, however, disputes the union data, saying that engineers have an average total benefit of $ 135,000 per year, the highest employees exceeding $ 200,000.

Representatives of the New Jersey Transit and Bet met the National Mediation Board in Washington, DC, to continue the negotiations on Monday. There was no BET public declaration after the meeting of the National Mediation Board, and BET did not immediately respond to a request for ABC comments.

If the raising occurs, it would be the first transit strike in the state in more than 40 years.

If the engineers leave the job, NJ Transit plans to increase the bus service, saying that it would add a capacity “very limited” to the existing suburban bus routes near the railway stations and contract with private carriers to operate the bus service from the main regional park and roller locations during the weekly periods of the week.

However, the agency notes that the buses could not manage anywhere near the same number of passengers, urging people who can work at home to do so if there is a strike.

If a strike lasts on weekends, NJ Transit will have set up additional emergency plans for Monday morning.

The charter buses will take place from four satellite lots in the state. Two of these park and ride lands will go directly to Manhattan.

  • The buses of Secaucus junction and the PNC Arts will go to the port authority.

  • Buses at Hamilton’s railway station will take passengers at Newark Penn station, where they can get on the road.

  • Buses that collect passengers at the Woodbridge Center Mall will take them to Chemin Harrison Station.
  • Important to note: NJ Transit will not offer inter-world tickets in these park and driving locations.

For example, a round trip from the PNC Arts Center in New York will cost $ 48.

In addition, NJ Transit will increase its bus service on certain roads close to railway lines

If you plan to go to the airport, the port authority will operate a free direct shuttle bus service from Newark Penn station.

NJ Transit will add more buses to and from Midtown bus station with its own fleet.

The path trains will work with a normal schedule and can add more trains if the port authority sees the need.

There will be an Amtrak service with the NJ transit buses to Newark airport in Penn Station. You would need an Amtrak ticket to use this service.

Port authority buses will also be available. Bus service companies with a suburbs also add thousands of seats, available for reservations every day of the week.

NYC Emergency Management says that it is closely coordinated with NJ transit agencies and partners before a potential disruption on Friday. If a rail strike occurs, the agency advises commuters to prepare for overcrowding, delays and limited capacity on other transit options.

The potential strike already leads to certain disturbances. NJ Transit said on Monday that he would not do a train or bus service at the Metlife Stadium for Shakira concerts scheduled for Thursday evening and Friday.

The port authority of New York and New Jersey announced today that the closings of tracks planned for its crossings of Hudson River will be delayed on the evening of Thursday May 15 and Friday, May 16, to facilitate vehicle trips for Shakira fans who plan to lead to and from the stadium has been in light of the canceled mass transit options.

To adapt to the increase in vehicle circulation, closings of tracks planned for the night at the Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel and George Washington Bridge, which generally start at 9 p.m., will be delayed until at least 1 hour in the morning

It is not yet clear if NJ Transit will provide services to Beyonce fans who plan to attend his shows in Metlife from May 22 to 29.
