Boston ranked 10th on a list of the 10 most popular summer domestic travel destinations in the Needham-based travel website’s annual Summer Travel Index. The No. 1 summer destination in the United States is Las Vegas, according to the site.

American travelers are looking for entertainment, sporting events and adventure this summer, the report notes.

“As travel continues to defy expectations, we are seeing an increase in travel intentions, with consumers channeling their discretionary spending towards vacations and experiences, despite increasingly tight household budgets for many,” said Alice Jong, senior research analyst at Tripadvisor, in a statement. . “Travel consumers want to see new places and have new experiences, as evidenced by the one-third of travelers considering exploring a destination for the first time.”
