Nikki, Erik Spoelstra’s ex-wife, denounces criticism on Instagram

Nikki Spoelstra is not here to make unnecessary comments.

In a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Nikki – who was previously married to Heat coach Erik Spoelstra – slammed internet critics for latching onto the “‘thirst trap’ narrative” after sharing a series full body shots.

“Stop with the ‘thirst trap’ narrative, guys, I’m not here for that,” began Nikki, a former Heat dancer. “I’m 37 years old and I’ve had THREE babies. I was a dancer my whole life, I became a professional, I taught dance until I had these children. In fitness and fashion/style IN ADDITION to all things healing.

“And… if you *really* want to see me in a so-called ‘thirst trap,’ take a look at the posters of Miami Heat dancers from 2005-2008 and tell me if the trap was, uh… Trappin. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is the case.

Nikki concluded her post with a playful shout out to South Florida-based boutique REFRESH by Mairi, writing, “Also, the mirrors from @refresh_rbm are amazing. I really like it here.”

This isn’t the first time Nikki has lashed out at online trolls.

Back in January, “The Know with Nikki Spo” podcast host responded to a comment on her social media feed that read, “Way to dig in the bag,” following the $120 million contract extension of dollars from Spoelstra over eight years which was signed. at the same time as the divorce.

“Lol. I’m going to address this comment NOT as it relates to my personal life choices, but as it relates to a general thought process that I believe many people have and that many people have harassed me with over the years. years,” Nikki wrote at the time.

“Women cannot be truly in love with someone who is successful. No, they’re pretending and they’re in it for the money. And if a woman chooses not to be with a successful partner, she is apparently an idiot.”

She later explained why she would not ignore such remarks.

“Ignoring it (bullying) for years has taken a toll on my emotional health and people need to better understand how their words can affect others,” Nikki explained.

“Not just me. But people. In general. Be kinder.

Spoelstra, 53, and Nikki announced in November 2023 that they were separating after seven years of marriage.

“We are both grateful for our relationship and remain fully committed to co-parenting our children and continuing to make them our shared priority,” they said of their children, Santiago, Dante and Ruby, in a joint statement .

The Miami Herald reported at the time they finalized their divorce.

Spoelstra’s Heat are coming off a first-round playoff exit against the Celtics — a year after an NBA Finals appearance when they lost to the Nuggets in five games.
