Nicole Kidman ‘disappointed’ by husband Keith Urban’s ‘heroin’ post after previous battles with addiction

Nicole Kidman is not impressed by her husband Keith Urban’s latest stunt.

Last week, the 56-year-old country music star performed an acoustic cover of Ariana Grande’s hit single We Can’t Be Friends at an intimate concert, posting video of the performance to her social media and captioned her post, “this song is audible heroin.

The Australian rocker doubled down in an interview with People where he once again equated the track to illegal drugs.

“I don’t know what’s going on with this song, but I can’t stop playing it. It’s like audible heroin. Literally, I gotta have another hit,” he declared.

“I play this thing over and over again.”

This strange connection has raised eyebrows not only among fans, but also at his Hollywood actress wife, also 56, who has stood by and supported him during his battles with drug and alcohol addiction in the past.

“Nicole would never have asked him to delete a post, but she was disappointed,” a source told Woman’s Day magazine.

“It reminded us of a very dark time when they almost broke up, but worse than that, she doesn’t want her kids to start thinking it’s cool or OK or something you can easily ‘fix’.”

The insider added that the couple – who share daughters Sunday, 15, and Faith, 13 – “have been through hell because of Keith’s addictions.”

Ariana, however, was flattered by Keith’s enthusiastic post and performance, writing on Instagram: “This is so beautiful.”

Urban publicly struggled with his drug and alcohol addiction and entered rehab several times, most recently visiting the Betty Ford Center in October 2006, just months after he married Nicole.

Keith once recalled the time his wife Nicole arranged an intervention for his addiction issues, in an excerpt from the book Keith Urban by Jeff Apter.

Keith told Rolling Stone magazine in 2016 that he would have understood if Nicole had chosen to leave him after rehab in 2006, as the couple didn’t get married until that year.

“I was very lucky that Nic stepped in on me,” Keith said, adding that his reckless behavior “caused my new marriage to implode.”

He also reflected on speaking out to Oprah Winfrey, admitting to the famous talk show host that he had “gone off the rails” and “needed help and a new direction” in his life.

Nicole, who was working in Rome at the time of her seizure, returned to the United States and gathered her friends to stage an intervention.

“The love in that room at that moment was perfect,” Keith told Oprah. “Seeing love in action like this…I’ve never experienced anything like this before.”

Keith has been open about his past struggles with alcohol addiction and revealed at the South By Southwest conference in Texas in 2018 that he wished he had gotten sober earlier in his life.

“I wish I had gotten sober several years earlier, but it is what it is,” he said.

“I knew I wasn’t at my full potential, and that’s what was starting to affect me. I was enslaved…I was living a very, very small life.

Keith also admitted that he “was terrible at relationships” before meeting Nicole and that his song lyrics about love were far from his reality.

“I would write these songs about love and relationships; I remember writing Somebody Like You and playing it for my girlfriend at the time. She just looked at me and said, ‘You’re a fucking hypocrite,’ and I couldn’t argue with that,” he said.

Keith and Nicole met in 2005 and married a year later. They are the parents of daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
