Nico Hoerner of Cubs in Oakland moving

West Sacramento – The first thing that should be noted is the date line.

“I mean, I prefer to play Oakland,” said inner field player Nico Hoerner.

Instead, the native of Oakland was a reluctant participant in the story on Monday evening, the first time that the major baseball league has been played here since the city was formed in 1987 (or even more dating from the foundation of the state capital through the river in 1850).

The A welcomed the Cubs for a home opening match like no other, to ring in a new season in a stadium they share with the Triple-A club of another team in front of a base of fans who will only know them for three years, before they bolt for Las Vegas.

“It seems different in many ways,” said the a bitter from A Bret Roker before the match. “Different location. Obviously, a different framework. But it also feels. The butterflies are there, the excitement is there.”

“I do not know if it is a good or a bad thing, but we are here,” added Justin Turner, the Cubs field player, Justin Turner from the districts of makeshift visitors beyond the central wall of the Sutter Health Park.

The 14,000-seat stadium, where the cats of the Triple-A river opened their season during the weekend, received a youthful cure in preparation for the temporary stay of the A, including a drainage and irrigation system which should help the playing surface to hold an almost quota action this summer.

The new clubhouse of visitors could have the smallest imprint of the majors, and the AA facilities are not much bigger. But the only indications that they may not have spared expenditure are the deposit ceilings and the leather sofas of the Clubhouse Coliseum on the A side.

“Have you been at the Coliseum visiting the clubhouse?” Turner cracked. “This is actually quite nice. Perhaps the only drawback is that it is in the central field.”

The home club house is right next to it, in the left field, which was the only complaint of Luis Severino. When he visited the stadium after having signed his $ 67 million contract over three years, the whole playing surface was still torn and under construction.

“It’s great to see everything come together. … It’s a bit small, but we have everything we need,” said Severino. “The gymnasium is too. The only thing that is not great is how far the clubhouse is the canoe.

“If you have a bad game, fans can let you know right away.”

Severino is used to the spotlight after spending his entire career in New York – 2015-23 with the Yankees, last year with the dishes – but did not plan a lot of adjustment ranging from the big Apple to the fifth largest metropolitan region of California.

“There will be not 20,000 fans, but there will be no empty seats,” said Severino, who preferred to live outside Manhattan.

In an ideal world, according to Rooker, the intimate framework of two floors will take the energy of a dry baseball match, said the Mississippi graduate.

“I think the biggest difference will be to try to find places to eat, restaurants,” said Severino. “I don’t know what I’m going to eat.”

This is where Tyler Ferguson comes into play.

The 31-year-old lift and a single resident of Sacramento was a popular guy in the A. Ironically clubhouse, the native of Fresno called the city for the previous five years, ironically unravery for San Luis Obispo during the offseason.

“I hope they are pleasantly surprised, you know, there are good places in the city center and they are close to the stadium,” said Ferguson. “We hope we are going to create a” Bienvenue à Sac “brochure so that everyone presents the city.”

Regarding Oakland fans, Hoerner, a Head-Royce former, wanted them to know that they are not forgotten.

In fact, it was once part of it.

“Oakland is a special place for me.

“It always gives me chills thinking about that.”

Hoerner’s mother still lives in Oakland and he has friends who joined the boycott led by fans against property.

“She will be there,” said Hoerner. “In my opinion.”
