Nicki Minaj arrested in Amsterdam, claims authorities ‘took my luggage without my consent’

A video showing the rapper being arrested was posted on Instagram Live.

Nicki Minaj was arrested by police at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on Saturday, a Dutch national police source confirmed to ABC News.

Dutch police said in a statement that a 41-year-old woman was arrested for trying to leave the country while in “possession of soft drugs, which is prohibited.”

Police later said she had been released.

“After consultation with the public prosecutor, the suspect was fined and can continue her journey,” Dutch police posted on X.

On Saturday, Minaj’s planned concert in Manchester, England, was postponed, according to an announcement from the venue on X.

“Despite Nicki’s best efforts to explore every possible avenue for tonight’s show to take place, today’s events have made that impossible,” Co-op Live wroteadding: “We are deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused.”

Earlier, the 12-time Grammy nominee posted a video on Instagram Live showing her discussing the arrest with a police officer. The officer said she was being detained “because you were transporting drugs” when she asked the reason for her arrest.

Minaj took to X to update her followers on the dramatic events. “Now they said they found some weed and another group of people had to come here to weigh the pre-rolls. Keep in mind they took my bags without consent. My safety already informed them that these pre-rolls belong to him Oh yes & the pilot wants me to delete my post on Instagram,” she wrote in a message.

The hashtag #FREENICKI was trending on X since the arrest was announced.

ABC News has reached out to Minaj’s representatives for comment.
