Regarding players’ contracts, the system generates complete and complete transparency. Regarding head coaching contracts, the media and fans only know what the team and the coach are ready to share.
The Eagles coach Nick Sirianni is ready to share nothing at all in his new contract.
All we know is that: (1) He had a year left on his original contract; and (2) He signed a “multi -year” extension. Thus, at least, he has a three -year contract.
Meeting with journalists on Tuesday, Sirianni refused to disclose anything on the agreement. Start with the fairly harmless and obvious question of what several years mean?
“”I will not go into the details of all this, “said Sirianni, via a transcription provided by the team.
When he was asked to explain his reason for a complete discretion, Sirianni said: “I would simply not like in the details of all this. Usually, coach contracts are – you don’t get these (details) as much, right? ”
He is right. We don’t do it. Unless someone to know about the Blabs agreement, we will not.
The reality is that the coaches, despite the existence of a salary ceiling, a franchise label or other devices to limit their salary, have not seen their salary rates increase at the same rate of compensation of players and franchise income / equity increased. He behaves collusion by teams who do not want to enter a tender war for coaches, and who do not want to pay more than they have to pay. After all, each dollar that goes to coaches cuts directly into the profit margin.
And while the best coaches are doing very well, an excellent trainer is much more precious than a very good player. And very good players are currently doing much more than the best paid coaches.
