The paadres are 4-0 for the second time in 57 years to be a major league baseball team.
Since 97.5% of this season remains, it is much more important to know how they got there.
In simple terms, the 5-0 Sunday victory against the Braves has completed almost as almost four days without fault as in a game in which perfection over any duration is impossible.
“We have had a lot of things that happen in our direction, but whatever the game requested in this series, we did not miss,” said Fernando Tatis Jr. “We have played as well in baseball as I have seen him for a very long time.”
Nick Pivetta almost achieved perfection on seven -sleeves aimlessly on Sunday, during which he faced the minimum of 21 strikers.
“Welcome to San Diego, Nick Pivetta,” said Padres manager Mike Shildt. “I mean, the counts dominated.
The new intense pitcher of the paadres has tracked up around the mound and the inner grass and verses and from the canoe. He lost shortly between the grounds and shortly to cross the brave.
“Nick is in it, guy,” said Shildt. “Nick attacks.”
Pivetta deliberately and expertly mixed his curve and her sweeper with a quick bullet that was moving in an extraordinarily effective start. He gave a blow, withdrew four and launched 57 strikes from his 82 throws, a rate of 69.5%.
“I was in the striking area,” said Pivetta, who obtained seven ball outs. “I think that’s exactly what it was.
The 32 -year -old right -hander withdrew the first six strikers from the brave before a single of Orlando Arcia leading the third round. Two throws later, the round was over, on a player field field field and a double game game.
Pivetta then set the following 12 strikers to end his day and leave his team a two -point advantage.
The Padres added a race at the bottom of the seventh and two in the eighth, and Jason Adam and Jeremiah Estrada finished the match to pass the aimless sequence of the enclosure of the lifts at 15 rounds.
“The LEVEUR INCLOS has done an excellent job every four games,” said Shildt. “For the first two games, guy, they really came to pick us up and were able to get big sleeves. And (they obtained) outings at the end of the matches in the last two nights.”
The 18 throws that Pivetta launched in the fifth was the most in the largest round. He succeeded in the second round in 10 throws, the third in six throws and the seventh in eight throws.
At that time, the Braves had lost 20 rounds without race.
It would be 22 rounds at the end of the match, and it would be 0-4. This is not the start of the desired team. But the last time they lost four to start a season was 2021, the year of their last World Series title.
The only time the paadres were 4-0 were 1984, which ended with the first of their two appearances of the World Series.
Leaving the brave, AJ Smith-Shawver, had problems with his command, walking three and giving half a dozen sure. But he minimized the damage by escaping at least a semblance of problems in each of his four rounds. In all, he failed five runners in a score position.
The paadres took an advance of 1-0 during the first round when the good fortune that they many times appreciated by this series with rebounds which took place. Tatis led the bottom of the first with a double check down on the ground on the line of the right field, and Manny Machado sent a double to the base of the wall in the right field to bring it home.
Machado was left standing on the third basis of this round, and the paadres left the base loaded in the second after having obtained them in this way with two withdrawals.
Xander Bogaerts followed a march of two jake Cronenworth outings with a double to put the 2-0 padres in the third round.
Smith-Shawver was replaced by the left-hander José Suarez, who worked a sixth 1-2-3 and worked around a walk at a outing in the fifth before giving up a seventh race on Tatis’ march and a double with two withdrawals from Jackson Merrill.
Closer, Robert Suarez was able to sit while the paadres added to the eighth against Hector Neris when Bogaerts walked, stole second and scored on the double of Brandon Lockridge and Lockridge flew third and scored on the simple of Tatis.
The brave has passed to Los Angeles, where they will play the Dodgers, one of the other three teams that remain undefeated. The Padres will welcome the Guardians the next three days, then play 155 additional games before October.
“It was a good start,” said Bogaerts.
For the moment, that’s all.
“We can play a very good baseball,” said Tatis about what his first series showed. “Whatever the game asks, we can do it. And we will keep it like this.”
