Cinemacon obtained the first – and we hear the sooner – to look at the long -awaited cinematic adaptation of “Masters of the Universe”.
Despite some thin images of thin sets of set, the convention of the world owners of cinema was dazzled by what Amazon MGM triggered with the stars Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes under the director Travis Knight.
“This is the rebirth of this incredible world,” said producer Jason Blumenthal de Set. Director Knight discussed his longtime love for toys and animated series from the 80s (he had a he-man haircut when he was a child, he revealed). He also showed huge sets that have obtained cries of approval from the crowd, including the Fictive Eternia planet and the emblematic sword of power of He-Man.
There were also a lot of B -Roll of Galitzine training sessions – brandishing swords, benches and, in a criminally short extract, bending his biceps in a battle costume with the coolest eruption that we have seen on a man for some time.
Jared Leto embodies the Big Bad Skeletor (which has not been revealed in any sequence). Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (“Game of Thrones”) are also in distribution.
“Masters of the universe” needed muscles larger than that of Galitzine to survive the hell of development. Netflix has dropped an eye of $ 30 million in fresh and retains a version of the project that involved the filmmakers of Brother Buzzy Adam and Aaron Nee (“The Lost City of D”), Variety reported exclusively at the end of 2023.
This version had a different star attached and could not meet significantly without a floating budget of $ 200 million. The producer nominated in the Oscars, Todd Black (the series “Equalizer”, “Fengs”) has been devoted to equipment for years because he has engaged with several studio partners. He finally stayed with Amazon MGM.
The project comes for Mattel films and escape artists. The Nee Brothers and Dave Callaham designed the story of a scenario by Chris Butler (“Kubo and the two strings”).
