NFL’s decision on Tash’s push is delayed because medical experts express their concern | Nfl

The future of Tash’s push will not be decided in the immediate future. NFL team owners had to vote on Green Bay’s proposal to ban the game that helped Eagles to Philadelphia to win a Super Bowl and reach another, but the motion was deposited until May. ESPN has reported that 16 teams are currently supporting the rush thrust. The NFL requires that the approval of 24 teams will increase a change in rules.

Also on Tuesday, team owners approved the modification of the kick -off rule, expanding rereading assistance and revising overtime rules.

The postponement of the push tash vote means that the debate will continue while the teams collect more information. Supporters of the play and those who oppose them presented solid arguments while the League medical experts expressed safety problems.

The president of the NFL Competition Committee Rich McKay stressed that the problems surrounding the game extend beyond security, because there is not enough data to indicate that Tash’s push is dangerous. The League has already said that no injury had been reported on a Tash surge.

“There are certainly people who have health and safety problems, but there are so many people who have football problems,” said McKay. “So I wouldn’t say it was because of a video or special security discussion. It was much more on the room, the aesthetics of the room, is it part of what football was traditionally, or is it more a rugby piece? All these types of discussion. Health and security are always there because of the potential, but I would not go beyond.”

The League has forbidden to push or draw a player before a change of rule in 2004. McKay said that the packers had asked to withdraw the proposal so that they could reintroduce the previous language, study it and do it to discuss for a vote during the May meetings.

“He has gone into many different directions beyond health and security,” said McKay about the conversation of 30 to 40 minutes. “Just the traditional of the play, the idea that you could push another player, the idea that we prohibit the defense but that we do not prohibit it to the offensive. He went in all these directions.”

With regard to the changes that have successfully completed, the rules in terms of overtime of the regular season will now correspond to those of the playoffs and the two teams will have a chance to obtain possession even if the offensive marks a touch on the opening player. The proposal was changed to make overtime for 10 minutes rather than 15 minutes.

The owners also approved a proposal from the NFL Competition Committee to allow Replay Assist to consult those responsible on the ground to cancel the objective calls such as the mask mask penalties, that there was forced contact for the head or neck, the plated in a horse neck or the trigger if there were “clear and obvious” evidence that a fault did not occur. Rereading would also be able to reverse a muddy or execution penalty if the video showed that the defender was in contact with the ball.

Replay Assist could not eliminate a fault only if it was wrongly, but it will not be used to launch a flag if a penalty was not granted. The dynamic kick -off rule becomes permanent, the touchbacks going to the line of 35 yards instead of 30.

Even if the League said that there had been no injury reported following Tash’s push, the potential risk involved in the Philadelphia version of the Sneak Quarterrière triggered intense discussions.

The packers, who lost against the Eagles in an eliminatory match of the jokers, also cited the pace of play as a reason to consider eliminating the game. Rams coach Sean Mcvay is against Tash’s push, but said on Tuesday morning that he would be surprised if it was banned this week. Los Angeles also lost to Philadelphia in the playoffs.

Bills coach Sean McDermott leads the push to get rid of the game, even if Buffalo used it more than any team other than the Eagles.

The Eagles began to use the game in short-yard situations in 2022. Two or three players line up behind the quarter-Arrière Jalen Hurts and push it forward. Several other teams, including the Bills, have started to use it, but no team has equaled the success rate of Philadelphia.
