The owners of the NFL approved a major change of rules during the current league meetings in Palm Beach, Florida.
As Adam Schefter of ESPN reported, the owners voted to change the format of overtime, allowing the two teams to own the ball in the additional period.
Previously, the team which received the start of the opening in overtime could refuse the possession of the other team by marking a victorious touch on the first journey of the additional framework.
Now, even if the reception team marks on the opening disc, the kick team will always have a chance to link the match on the possession that followed.
There had been a proposal for an extension of 15 minutes, but Schefter reports which was reduced to 10 minutes.
