NFL Draft 2024: Taylor Swift approves of Chiefs’ choice of Xavier Worthy as Travis Kelce’s girlfriend likes video of Kansas City’s new star’s selection

Taylor Swift approved of the Kansas City Chiefs’ decision to select Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night.

The pop sensation – and girlfriend of Travis Kelce – has become an avid Chiefs fan in recent months thanks to her high-profile relationship with the three-time Super Bowl winner.

And it appears she’s closely monitoring Chiefs coach Andy Reid’s preparations for next season, particularly the college prospects he’s recruiting.

That’s because Swift liked an Instagram post from the Chiefs that shows Worthy and his family celebrating the moment he was picked by Kansas City.

Worthy was not in Detroit, but was sitting at home with a large group of family and friends, who went wild when his name was called.

Worthy was all smiles and quickly put on a Chiefs cap before hugging his loved ones.

Ecstatic Chiefs fans celebrated the selection by jokingly telling Swift to “pass” for their new signing – weeks after he set the 40-yard dash record at 4.21 seconds in the NFL Combine.

Worthy’s speed means he appears to be a formidable asset to Patrick Mahomes and Kelce and the team sparked a frenzy on social media by sharing his NFL Combine record 40-yard dash.

Worthy ran a breathtaking 4.21-second sprint at the NFL Combine in Texas.

Chiefs fans were eager to welcome Worthy to Kansas City and commented on the post: “Kid breaks record and will get a Super Bowl ring in his first season.”

Another couldn’t help but reference Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift: “Move over, Taylor.” There’s another Swift coming! »

The Chiefs were expected to pick last in the first round after winning their second straight Super Bowl and third in five years, but they managed to trade up with one of their biggest rivals in the AFC.

The Chiefs sent the 32nd pick along with a fourth-rounder and a seventh-rounder to the Bills for No. 28, a fourth-rounder and a seventh-rounder.

That meant Andy Reid could give Mahomes a potential gem in Worthy, who is a fast, deep threat they’ve been missing since Tyreek Hill left.

Worthy is more than just a threat, showing promise as a route runner and cutting down on drops last season, when he caught 75 passes for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns.

“Look, I like the wide receivers we have,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, “but adding someone of that quality is important, or it’s a good move to strengthen him. I don’t want to Not to look down on the guys we have, but it’s a nice addition.

“We told Patrick,” Reid said with a smile. “Patrick is curious. He loves this stuff. It doesn’t matter whether it’s attack or defense. He loves the draft. He texts us and we text him back. He’s great with it.

“It doesn’t hurt to have speed on the court. We operated without great speed on the field and we did well, but if you have the opportunity to have someone who you think is a good player, you probably have to take advantage of it.

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year with a patchwork receiving corps, and they were looking for help even before second-year pro Rashee Rice — their biggest star last season — was involved in legal issues in Texas.

Dallas police allege Rice was driving a Lamborghini at more than 100 mph when he and a friend, who was driving a Corvette, lost control and triggered a chain-reaction crash that injured several people.

Rice left the scene without seeing if anyone was injured, but surrendered when police issued warrants for his arrest. Rice was released on bail and Reid said he will continue to participate in the Chiefs’ offseason program as the legal situation evolves.

The Chiefs signed Hollywood Brown in free agency, and tight end Travis Kelce has been just as productive as any wide receiver.

But otherwise, the Chiefs were faced heading into summer with fall-prone Justin Watson, Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore and journeymen such as Montrell Washington rounding out the receiving corps.
