The NFL announced on Tuesday the guest teams and the dates of international matches 2025, a list that will send the Vikings of Minnesota abroad for consecutive weeks.
The international calendar of 2025 is as follows. The “reception teams”, which were revealed earlier this year, are listed first.
- Pittsburgh Steelers vs Minnesota Vikings in Dublin, Ireland (week 4, 28 September)
- Cleveland Browns against Minnesota Vikings in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (week 5, 5 October)
- New York Jets against Denver Broncos in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (week 6, 12 October)
- Jacksonville Jaguars against Los Angeles Rams in London at the Wembley stadium (week 7, 19 October)
- Indianapolis Colts against Atlanta Falcons in Berlin (week 10, 9 November)
- Miami Dolphins vs commanders of Washington in Madrid (week 11, 16 November)
A match in São Paulo, Brazil, with the Los Angeles chargeers as a designated home team, is still announced.
The League organized regular international season matches for two decades, dating from October 2, 2005, when the Cardinals of Arizona beat the 49ers from San Francisco to Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
Since then, Commissioner Roger Goodell has clearly explained his desire to expand the international imprint of the NFL. In 2007, the League launched its international series, which has since been part of the NFL calendar each year (with the exception of 2020, due to the Pandemic Covid-19).
Madrid (Stade Santiago Bernabéu), Dublin (Croke Park) and Berlin (Olympiastadion) are new stops for the NFL in 2025. Next year, the League will play its first match in Melbourne, Australia, with Rams as a designated home team.
Since the regular season of 16 to 17 games in 2021, the AFC and NFC teams alternate between nine and eight home games each year.
During the 2025 season, AFC teams play nine home games, which means that those who play abroad are nominal hosts. There are small advantages, but not insignificant, such as the first choice in hotels and to be the first team to leave the stadium.
The seven international games in 2025 are the most in a season. The League organized five international games in five distinct seasons: 2017, ’19, ’22, ’23 and ’24.

Of the 13 teams of international matches in 2025, the Steelers are most distant from a trip abroad. The Pittsburgh match in 2013 against Minnesota was its last international appearance, although the Steelers are more familiar with Dublin than others. Pittsburgh played in a 1997 pre-season match against the Bears de Chicago to Croke Park as part of the American Bowl series, while the president and owner of the Steelers, Art Rooney II, has family in the country, and the president of the late Steelers, Daniel M. Rooney, was an American ambassador to Ireland in Irland 2009-12.
On Monday, the League announced that the champion of Super Bowl Philadelphia Eagles will face the Dallas Cowboys during the launch match of the season on Thursday, September 4. The 2025 complete calendar will be released on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on NFL Network.
Why would Vikings be ready to play consecutive matches abroad?
It starts with experience. Minnesota has played in London twice in the last three seasons. The Vikings won the two games. They beat New Orleans in 2022 when the saints made a basket of 61 yards during the final game. Last year, the Vikings sailed on a slope watered against the New York Jets, and the Stephon Gilmore corner half obtained the interception of playing Aaron Rodgers. More foreign fields for the NFL
The NFL will play in three new stages to add to its growing international inventory.
After matches at the Allianz Arena in Munich (2022, 2024) and the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt (2023), the NFL will land in a new German city in 2025. Olympiastadion welcomed the Berlin Thunder – the three times of the World Bowl of the NFL Europe – and Bundesliga Side Hertha Berlin is now residence. The capacity stadium of the German capital also hosted the 2006 World Cup final and Euro 2024.
